Juan
Vengoechea was born in Medellin, Colombia, in a family in which
the restaurant business was the “our daily bread”. His first job
was in the catering of a 1,700 workers factory for five years
while he started Hotel Administration studies in Bogota at the
Colombian School of Hotel and Tourism, then he decided to open
his own bar “La Lumbre” in where he worked as a bartender and
bassist in his rock band at the same time.
Music was his passion before
he moved to the Caribbean to start in the hotel industry working in the
Santamar Travelodge Hotel as a Banquets and Conference Manager in a
1,500 people convention center capacity. The music was then left to open
the road to his real passion: customer service, and the arts of wines
and food and beverages. He then became a General Manager in two 4 stars
hotels, and one 5 star during his career; the passion for Food &
Beverages was the successful operations in each of those, in where the
customer service was the priority and the reason to exist.
After that,
Drummond Company gave him the experience to work in a 6,500 workers coal
mine as Camp Director, managing the Life Support department in a remote
site. A 600 room hotel and 28 Food & Beverages outlets was inside the
“Pribbenow Mine”.
Since
two years ago he arrived to the USA to explore the American culture, but
the surprise is to see the huge expansion of the Latin - American
culture in this country in where Spanish is the “official second
language”. So let’s help the USA become the biggest Spanish country of
the earth before 2020.
